Terms and Conditions
Payment Terms
All online payments for course bookings are taken at time of booking unless otherwise stated. Any other payments by invoice need to be made 28 days from the date of invoice. Please note that course certificates are not issued until payment is received.
VAT – All course fees are subject to the current rate of VAT (valid exemptions only).
Course Bookings
Online bookings are made via the White Dog First Aid website, but requests/questions may be made by e-mail or phone. Telephone bookings must be confirmed in writing upon request. Please quote invoice numbers where applicable.
Cancellations and Transfers
Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your course, or need to transfer to another course, the following charges (before VAT) will apply:
- More than one week prior to the course start date – no charge
- One day to one week prior to the course – 25% of the course fee
- Less than 24 hours prior to the course – 50% of the course fee.
For online courses: Refunds will only be issued once any course packs have been returned (with proof of postage). Cost of return is to be met by the delegate.
All transfers must be taken within the period determined by the awarding body, usually between 2 and 10 weeks – contact us for details.
If it is felt that the student doesn’t meet the learning outcomes, the full course fee remains payable (as outlined in Non-Attendance or Late Arrival section).
Non-Attendance or Late Arrival
If you do not attend a course, and you have not previously informed us, the full course fee remains payable.
If you arrive late for a course (more than 30 minutes), are absent from any session for any reason, or are unable to complete the course owing to language problems (see Guidelines for Employers and Attendees below), we reserve the right to refuse to accept you for training if we feel you will gain insufficient knowledge or skill in the time remaining. In all such cases, the full course fee remains payable.
If we are Forced to Cancel a Course Owing to Unforeseen Circumstances
Whilst not likely to happen, extreme circumstances (such as very severe weather conditions or a global pandemic) may force us to cancel a course. In such circumstances you will be given as much notice as possible. If cancellation is at short notice owing to a physical barrier (such as a COVID lockdown) we will offer the course online where possible. If the course still cannot proceed, we will give you the option to have a full refund or to transfer at a discounted rate to another course. The amount of discount is dependent on notice given:
- More than one week prior to the course start date – no discount
- One day to one week prior to the course – 25% discount of the course fee (before VAT)
- Less than 24 hours prior to the course – 50% discount of the course fee (before VAT).
Classroom Management
Aggression, harassment, violence or inappropriate behaviour towards any other student or employee is unacceptable. Any such behaviour will result in removal from the classroom
Guidelines for Employers and Attendees
It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that students are free from any condition which would affect their capability to undertake their chosen course, and that they have the aptitude to cope with an intensive course of study. Courses are textbook/PowerPoint based in English only.
We welcome students with disabilities but it remains their employer’s responsibility to ensure that they are appropriately supported in the workplace.
All courses are designed to be as accessible as possible, but we would welcome in advance any questions with regards to the suitability/accessibility of a course for a specific individual.
For renewal/refresher training, it is the responsibility of the student/employer to ensure that they have selected the correct course and meet the course criteria – contact us if you are unsure.
Owing to the course structure and content, courses are not suitable for those who are unable to read and/or understand English. The content also means that unless designed specifically for children, students need to be 16 years or over to attend any of the courses.
If you are Currently Mentally Unwell
Please note that the courses provide an opportunity to share what students are thinking, and that people may want to share sensitive and personal information and experiences. The courses provide a safe place in which to do so. However, they are not a therapeutic space or place to resolve personal problems or difficulties. As the trainer will not have the time or resources to fully support those going through an emotional crisis, the courses are not recommended for those who have current/outstanding emotional/psychological issues or are currently mentally unwell.
If you are currently mentally unwell, please make an appointment to visit your GP or seek help via the NHS – 999 for an emergency or 111 for non-urgent enquiries.
Alternatively, you can always discuss how you are feeling with Samaritans – you can call free at any time and from any phone in the UK on 116 123 or e-mail jo@samaritans.org
