We are currently on the 11th edition of the First Aid Manual produced by the Voluntary Aid Societies (St John Ambulance, British Red Cross and St Andrew’s First Aid).
This came out in the summer of 2021 – there haven’t been any updates to the CPR protocol since then. Please note that if you did first aid training during the pandemic and were taught chest compression only CPR, this remains an option, but for best results rescue breaths are again recommended.
In October 2025, Resuscitation Council UK updated their guidelines for Basic Life Support.
This won’t affect anyone who holds a current first aid certificate, as the first aid training standards have not yet been updated (they are due to come into effect early in 2026).
White Dog members will be made aware of any changes as and when they come into effect via the White Dog quarterly newsletter.
